OCN Staff Pilot 2nd cohort

OCN Staff Pilot 2nd Cohort: diary of events

14th Nov 2012: An e-mail was sent out to approx 162 part-time and hourly paid staff inviting them to register on the OCN course "First Steps: Structuring Your VLE" via the staff CPD website.

8 staff registered on the course and an initial meeting was arranged to introduce them to the course structure and content.

Week beginning 19th Nov 2012: Meetings were arranged with all 8 members of staff.  Some staff were interested in doing 3 Units so they would gain an actual qualification. After speaking to the OCN it was agreed another 2 units would be validated.

3rd Dec 2012: Viv checked the progress of the OCN staff courses. 4 members of staff had started their courses, with 2 of them completing at least the first task. 4 had not started. A "catch-up" friendly e-mail was sent out to remind them to contact Viv if they needed any help or support.

4th Dec 2012: 3 more lecturers requested a place on the course. This highlighted a problem with the staff CPD portal "Passport" as a course submitted to the portal needs an "end date" and by its nature this Unit was written to run permanently so that staff could join as an when they had time. Tracey Marlow-Jones to investigate a better method of putting courses up on Passport. Changes to Passport will be piloted in the New Year.

5th Dec 2012: There are now 11 people registered to do the OCN unit. Two meetings arranged for next week to get 2 newly registered lecturers started.

14th Dec: 10 members of staff are registered on the course. These are the final numbers. The last pre course meeting was today.
